  • For each of the six types of involvement, what specific activities can you implement to help achieve your school improvement goal?
Create 4 nights to address the items below to educate parents, teachers and students. Start with the 4 most important, then continue with the remainder. We will use technology to touch on data and information on a more regular basis. Parenting-Share proper test preparation- sleep, nutrition Communicating-Newsletter with instructional articles on data and interpretation and information on what is being done during professional development time. Volunteering-Parent volunteers to help after school with extra test prep Learning at Home-Test Prep Practice-would enable parents to become familiar with skills and how the test is presented Decision Making- Collaborating-
  • How can parents and community members help to support your intervention or strategy?
Through better understanding, parents can support us and encourage students, not pressure them to do their best. Inform them about what we do when there are no students in the buildings.
  • What appropriate activities can you implement to promote a welcoming partnership climate for students, parents, and educators for your elementary, middle, or high school?
One night/week have school personnel available to parents to answer questions and guide the to help their students more efficiently.
  • What obstacles might you encounter when communicating with parents and community members?
Parent availability, same parents showing up every time or not showing up, intimidation factor, over involved parent

Language barriers, diversity of ideas, educational levels
  • What are some challenges using technology to involve families?
Access to technology, including internet
  • How will you ensure that understanding, appreciation, and respect for differences are fostered by all members of the school community?
Lay a foundation of rules, agreements in a similar fashion to developing our teams.
  • How can you use parent volunteers more effectively?
Find expertise by surveying. Establish ground rules.
  • How will you ensure that you meet NCLB requirements for communication?
Communications tools include newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, guides for explaining various different impacts of NCLB on school communities, templates for parent notifications, brochures for parents at Title I and non-Title I schools, and more.
  • How will you communicate your plans and expectations for parent involvement with parents and gather their input?
Share our vision through website notification, Newsletter, Parent/Teacher Organizations, and any other opportunity where parents are gathered at a school function.
